Acupuncture is a holistic health system that is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It addresses the root cause of a problem, treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms.
The balance of energy moving through our body's channels is disturbed by life’s stresses, from infections and diet to the weather or grief, and acupuncture uses techniques to restore this balance. Most commonly, fine needles are used to stimulate the energy points along with other methods such as those listed below.
Many conditions can be treated successfully with acupuncture.
Related therapies used by your acupuncturist may include:
Chinese Herbal Medicine, Chi Kung, Cosmetic Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion and Tui Nai.

The Atlas
Did you know that the first cervical vertebra -the atlas- is misaligned in most humans? We define the atlas as misaligned when the convex bony formations (occipital condyles) on the sides of the hole in the base of the skull (foramen magnum) do not properly fit into the convex receptacles on the top of the atlas (superior articular facets). Furthermore, one side of the atlas (transverse process) is inappropriately locked in front of another bony formation of the skull (styloid process of the temporal bone).
This condition leads to a variety of physical and psychological ailments and illnesses. Fortunately, it is now possible to relocate the atlas to its correct position using using the AtlasPROfilax ® method. This technique was discovered and developed in Switzerland between 1993 and 1996 by René-Claudius Schümperli (who was himself painfully affected by a misaligned atlas). The Cause
A misaligned atlas causes a reduction in the diameter of the aperture at the base of the skull and vertebral canal. This disrupts the normal flow of information between the brain and body through the vertebral and carotid arteries, the lymphatic system, the cerebral spinal fluid, the meningeal system and the spinal cord.
The Symptoms
The atlas carries not only the skull, but also facilitates, suspension, balance and control of the human spine and skeletal system.
A misaligned atlas can cause significant adverse changes to the posture. The results are symptoms such as recurring headaches, migraines, neck pain, stiff neck, back pain, lumbago, herniated disc(s), scoliosis, jammed spinal nerves, scoliotic pelvis, hip joint pain, apparent difference in leg length among others. The Method
R.C. Schümperli developed a method which is unique worldwide, to correct a misaligned atlas with only one application, accurately, safely and permanently.
The AtlasPROfilax ® application consists of a safe, strategic, non-chiropractic massage to the short muscles of the neck, to loosen the tension and allow the atlas to return to its natural position. A subsequent appointment to recheck the atlas and offering additional support for the self-healing process is essential. -
The original Bach Flower Remedies is a safe and natural method of healing discovered by Dr. Bach from 1920 – 1930’s in England. They gently restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions such as fear, worry, hatred and indecision which interfere with the equilibrium of the being as a whole. The Bach Flower Remedies allow peace and happiness to return to the sufferer so that the body is free to heal itself.
The Bach Flower Remedies are made from wild flowers and are safe for the whole family including pets. -

Craniosacral therapy is an extremely gentle hands-on whole body therapy. Therapists are trained to feel the subtle motion of the fluids that bathe the brain and spinal chord. This motion is called craniosacral motion. The therapist listens, via the hands to the body to facilitate its vital force. This brings about intrinsic change and reorganisation. In this way the therapist identifies and treats pain or tensions held in the body.
For treatment the client will usually lie fully clothed on a treatment couch. You may feel a deep sense of relaxation, and possibly become aware of heat, tingling, pulsations or other sensations.

Modern herbal medicine combines ancient traditional knowledge with the latest scientific findings. Qualified practitioners do a three-year medical training and must follow strict codes of ethics and safety. Herbalists use the same diagnostic skills as doctors but take a more holistic approach. This means they are more concerned in identifying and treating the underlying causes of any disease rather than to treat the symptoms alone.
Herbal prescriptions are designed specifically for each individual patient. A treatment may be a liquid (tincture) based on extracts of one or more plants, a plant juice, a cream made from oils and plant extracts, or a mixture of dried herbs to drink as a tea.Herbal medicine is suitable for all ages, from babies through to the elderly.

Naturopathy uses the healing power of nature to restore our bodies to good health. The body can heal cuts, mend bones and rid itself of infection and Naturopaths can assist in this natural healing ability right throughout the body. Naturopathy does not impose solutions upon the body, but instead gives the body a chance to normalise itself through the elimination of toxins and activities that cause harm to the mind and body.
Naturopaths are interested in the inner terrain of the body, for example, what is going on in the digestive tract and the level of toxicity in the tissue and organs. An initial in-depth consultation provides a good picture of the problem. Treatments include gentle detoxification remedies, lifestyle and nutritional advice and supplements.
Other therapies used by your Naturopaths may include Iridology , Live Blood Analysis , Iris Diagnosis, Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine and Osteopathy.

Reflexology is an ancient healing art dating back to Egypt, Inca and Chinese civilisations. Firm, rhythmic pressure is applied to reflex points in the hands and feet which stimulates corresponding organs, glands and other parts of the body. Reflexology brings about a state of balance and deep relaxation, which re-vitalises, detoxifies and stimulates the immune system, which in turn encourages self-healing.
Like Traditional Chinese Medicine, reflexology works on the principle that illness occurs when there are blockages in the body’s energy channels. The Reflexologist feels these blockages as grainy areas in the feet. Pressure movements on these areas helps to disburse the congestion, improving blood circulation, lymph flow and returning the body systems to a state of natural equilibrium.

Reiki (pronounced ‘Ray-key’ means ‘universal life energy’ and is a system of natural hands-on healing originating in Japan. Ki is the vital energy around and within all living things. During a treatment, ‘ki’ is chanelled through the practitioners hands into the client.
The client remains fully clothed and is lying down on a treatment couch. The whole body is treated, not just isolated areas. Reiki works on all levels of a person: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual, to restore balance, health and well-being. Reiki supports all forms of treatment, both conventional and complimentary and can often be used to help reduce negative side effects of medication or medical treatment.
Having treatments over four consecutive days can be a very powerful way of receiving Reiki, as the energy is able to move deeper each day, often having quite profound healing results. The first treatment tends to be a really relaxing and transforming experience in it’s own right. On day two and three some really deep healing often starts to unfold and then day four can feel like completing the cycle.
